★This video demonstrates the differences between pigment and dye★
Q.The bag is supposed to be a beige bag but why is it blue?
A. This operation is dyeing the bag from a beige color to a grey color. Before dyeing it grey,
we go through a dyeing operation when the original color of the bag and the dye color gets mixed eventually
esulting in a blue color.
Q. What is dyeing process?
A. The coloring of leather can be split into two parts,
dyeing process and pigment process. A dyeing process is the interaction between a dye and a leather,
as well as the movement of dye into the internal part of the leather.
Generally, a dyeing process involves adsorption
(transfer of dyes from the aqueous solution onto the leather surface)
and diffusion (dyes diffused into the leather).
As mentioned in the video,
before the pigment process we dye the leather with dark color in order to cover the beige color from being it seen,
just like a prep base before putting on makeup.
Q. What is pigment process?
A. A pigment process is the process of putting on the real makeup on top of the leather that has been dyed.
It is difficult to cover the speck nor the scar on the leather and to present a similar color of the leather just by the process of dyeing
The pigment process complements this process and makes the color of the leather seem natural,
just like the end of a makeup procedure. We call it the finishing in technical terms.
★염료작업과 안료작업★
Q. 베이지색 가방인데 왜 청색인지?
A. 이번 사례는 베이지색에서 검정색에 가까운 그레이색으로 염색하는 사례예요.
그레이로 염색하기 전, 염료작업을 하는데 이때 염료와 기존 가방의 색상이 섞여서 청색이 된 것이랍니다.
Q. 염료작업이란?
A. 염색은 크게 염료작업과 안료작업으로 나뉘어집니다.
염료작업은 가죽 내부로 색상을 침투시켜주는 작업이라고 생각하시면 돼요.
영상에서 나왔듯이 안료작업 전에 밑색(베이지색)이 보이지 않게 미리 어두운 색상을 가죽에 침투시키는 작업으로 쉽게 말하면 메이크업 전 기초화장을 말해요.
Q. 안료작업이란?
A. 염료작업이 끝난 가죽 위에 진짜 메이크업을 하는 작업이에요.
염료작업만으로는 가죽의 티끌이나 스크래치를 커버하지 못하고, 육안으로 보이는 가죽의 색상을 다 표현하지 못해요.
안료작업은 이를 보완해주고 가죽의 색상이 고르게 보이게 해 주는 작업으로 기초화장 후의 색조화장을 말합니다.
전문용어로는 피니싱 작업이라고 해요.
